8 creative ways to use your scrap yarn

1. Headphone or phone charger covers.

Make your headphones or phone charger unique with these two amazing ideas. The idea is to cover the cords with yarn, either with a crochet hook or with a needle. Make sure you do it in a safe way – no broken cords & fire Hazards.

 2. Scrap yarn blanket

This is an amazing project, but can take YEARS to make! In the picture you can see a blanket my grandmother made. It has so many amazing colors & is really lovely. By saving your scrap yarn for weeks, months, years & decades you can make a wonderful blanket like this one. I don’t have any actual pattern for this one, but you can easily make it with single crochet stitches.

Start yours today & keep on adding each time you have scrap yarn to spare. This will be a truly unique project.

Remember to take yarn weight into consideration when choosing your crochet hook & yarn for this project.

3. Coffee cozies

This is an amazing idea. 

HOW to make a coffee cozy with Joy of Motion:

1. Find your favorite cup.

2. Chain the number of stitches that is needed to reach 1 round around your cup.

3. Turn & start crocheting your favorite stitch. Finish as many rows needed to make your coffee cozy in the size you want.

4. Crochet together the short ends & fasten thread.

4. Mobile covers

You can easily use your scrap yarn to make mobile covers. My favorite way to do it is to also add fabric on the inside of the crocheted mobile cover.

5. Hearts & other cute shapes

There are a huge amount of hearts & heart patterns .

6. Coasters

Most crochet coasters are made by crocheting in circles. To make them you would have to add just enough stitches each round to make sure they end up flat. These can also be made by choosing your favorite stitch & make your own.

7. Make a Christmas card

Use your scrap yarn to make your own Christmas cards & gift tags. I suggest combining making hearts or shapes with this idea. Check out the great result on this pin:

 

8. Chair leg covers

This is an amazing idea to save your wood floor. 

9. Candle Covers

In fact this is my most favorite this season. I love lighting candles & it is even better when I have the “Jar Candle Covers”. The light from the holes you make crocheting this is amazing. It is really cozy together with a cup of hot cocoa and a blanket; just staying inside when it rains & is dark outside.
